La plus difficile épreuve d'Astérix: vaincre les formalités administratives de la « maison qui rend fou »
César propose aux gaulois de leur donner l'empire romain s'ils arrivent à bout de douzes tâches surhumaines, comme Hercule. S'ils perdent, ils doivent se rendre. La plupart du temps, ils arrivent à bout des épreuves grâce à la potion magique de Panoramix. L'épreuve la plus dure est celle de l'administration romaine, et cette satire est l'intérêt principal du film.
On peut y voir l'administration telle qu'elle était souvent présentée dans l'imagerie populaire, avec son absurdité, ses laissez-passer, ses formulaires et ses couloirs sans fin. Se moquer de l'administration et des impôts a toujours été pratiqué dans l'humour populaire, et était très bien acceptée par le public de l'époque. Si il sortait aujourd'hui ce dessin animé serait probablement dénoncé comme un dangereux hymne poujadiste ultralibéral destiné à laver le cerveau des enfants pour en faire meilleurs consommateurs et de moins bons citoyens.

• Equilibrium de Kurt Wimmer.

Dans un monde totalitaire les émotions sont interdites, ainsi que tout ce qui peut les provoquer, comme l'art. Les scènes de flics débarquant chez des gens dont le seul "crime" est d'avoir gardé un Da Vinci sont à mettre en parallèle avec la réalité de flics débarquant chez des gens dont le seul crime est d'avoir de la "drogue". D'autre part, dans le film, le chef de l'Etat totalitaire, donc le plus virulent anti-émotion, a lui-même une salle richement décorée, donc illégale ! Comme c'est souvent la cas dans la réalité avec les politiques : alors que les dirigeants des Etats communistes sont les plus prompts à critiquer la société de consommation bourgeoise, eux-même vivent dans le luxe !

Le héors, Snake Plisken, joué par Kurt Russell, s'oppose tant à la théocratie dictatoriale qu'aux communistes tiers-mondistes.

• Festen de Thomas Vinterberg.

Le meilleur film Dogma: une fable noire sur le « retour du refoulé »

Tourné selon le vœu de chasteté initié par Vinterberg et Lars Von Trier, c'est à dire en DV, caméra à l'épaule et sans aucun artifice, le film raconte l'histoire de Christian, un jeune suédois qui revient à la maison de famille pour les 60 ans de son père, un patriarche respecté, deux mois après la mort de sa sœur jumelle. Il y retrouve toute sa famille, son frère et son autre sœur, en couple avec un noir, qui doit affronter le racisme de la famille. Lors du dîner, il propose à son père de faire un choix entre deux enveloppes qui contiennent chacun un discours différent, et le père tombe sur le « discours de la vérité ». Ce que Christian veut révéler est si horrible que personne ne veut l'entendre. Il se fait rejeter, attacher à un arbre dans le jardin et finit par révéler l'horrible secret que tait la famille. Le film montre la lutte de l'individu contre la collectivité, pour faire éclater la vérité. Il met en scène de façon brillante les mécanismes grâce auquel le groupe tente d'écraser l'homme seul qui sait ce qui est vrai et peut bouleverser son ordre en faisant de lui son bouc-émissaire.

If somebody kills somebody, it's a crime, but if somebody kills somebody of a different race, it's a hate crime. And we think that that is a savage hypocrisy, because all crimes are hate crimes. If a man beats another man because that man was sleeping with his wife, is that not a hate crime? If a person vandalizes a government building, is it not because of his hate for the government? The motivation for a crime shouldn't affect the sentencing.
It is time to stop splitting people into groups. All hate crime laws do is support the idea that blacks are different from whites, that homosexuals are different, that we aren't the same. But instead we should all be treated the same, with the same laws and the same punishments for the same crimes.
